Systems Administrator
The Department of Computer Science at Brown University has an excellent opportunity for an individual to assist in supporting a network of over 500 workstations and associated servers. The Systems Administrator helps with the installation, integration, maintenance, and integrity of software running on all supported computing systems in the Computer Science Department. This person will participate in the day-to-day management of the systems, support of the user community and provide software support as necessary.
The Systems Administrator must have a BS in Computer Science or equivalent and experience with Windows administration, ideally in an enterprise-level mixed Linux/Unix and Windows environment. S/He must have a working knowledge of common Windows applications and services, some Linux/Unix experience, multiple scripting languages, one or more high level programming languages and the ability to successfully troubleshoot applications and system level problems. Additionally excellent interpersonal skills are necessary to interact effectively with a diverse and demanding user community.
